Traditional Braces With a Modern Twist

Metal braces have been around for decades, but today's versions look and feel far better than what your parents might remember. They use smaller brackets and sleeker wires, which means you get smoother edges and less pressure against your cheeks and lips.

This type of treatment uses stainless steel brackets that attach to your teeth, along with an archwire that guides them into better alignment. Over time, your smile takes shape as Dr. Kittleson tightens the wire bit by bit.

Novel System, Everlasting Benefits

At Kittleson Orthodontics, we believe metal braces aren't just reliable—they're also packed with perks that matter to you and your family.

Time-Tested Durability

Metal braces are built to handle almost anything. Made from high-grade stainless steel, they hold up well for busy kids, active teens, and adults on the go. Since these braces can take a few bumps without breaking, you're less likely to need emergency repairs. That means fewer unexpected trips to our Mequon office—and more confidence in your brackets and wires.

Comfort Like Never Before

Modern brackets are much smaller and smoother than the old-school type. This helps keep your mouth feeling comfortable as you get used to braces. Less rubbing and poking around your gums and cheeks means you can go about your day without constantly thinking about your treatment.

Better Teeth Alignment

Whether you're battling crowded teeth or a tricky bite, metal braces can handle it. Each time we tighten your archwire, your teeth move a bit closer to where they should be. While you might feel some pressure for a couple of days after an adjustment, it's a sign that your braces are working to give you a healthy grin.

Not Easily Misplaced

Clear aligners are handy, but they're removable—which also means they can get lost. Metal braces, on the other hand, stay right where we put them. You don't have to remember to wear them or worry about leaving them behind at a restaurant. They remain in place, doing their job until you're ready for them to come off.

Breaking Down Your Braces Procedure

01

Have a Chat

Stop by our Mequon office for a free consultation. You'll meet our friendly crew and get digital X-rays and scans taken of your teeth. Then, Dr. Kittleson will talk through your treatment options, answer questions, and help you decide if metal braces feel right for you.

02

Get Your Braces On

We use digital bonding. We'll bond each bracket to your teeth, thread the archwire through them, and add elastic ties or any other parts you need. This visit usually takes under an hour.

03

Keep up With Check-Ups

Every month or two, you'll swing by to see how things are moving. We'll tighten or adjust the wires, swap out elastics if needed, and make sure your braces are doing their job without any problems. This is also a good time to ask questions about brushing or flossing with braces.

04

Celebrate Your New Smile

After your teeth have shifted into place, Dr. Kittleson will gently remove your brackets and wires. You'll be amazed at your reflection in the mirror! We'll then fit you for a retainer to help hold those teeth in line.
